In 1966, Barbie's so-called "MODern cousin" Francie was introduced. Gone were the traditional fifties teenage looks as Francie and Barbie embraced the colorful Carnaby Street fashions of the day. Francie lasted about a decade originally but the damage was done and Barbie was a fashion plate ever after. Being a guy, of course, I never had a Barbie although a couple years later I did trade a friend for Barbie's British friend Stacey if only so my G.I. Joe would have someone to hang out with while he was on leave.
