Pulp author Robert E Howard was long dead by his own hand when his CONAN character was revived in hardback reprints in the fifties, then a series of paperbacks in the sixties that would lead to a mega-successful series of comics in the seventies and hit movies in the eighties. Frank Frazetta's cover for this and later books in the series not only sold the public on the Conan character but also on the artist himself who progressed from his comics origins to becoming the country's # 1 fantasy painter.
