It wasn't syndicated around my neck of the woods until a bit later but this Australian version of FLIPPER (with a kangaroo instead of a dolphin) ran from 1966 to 1968 in Australia and showed up for years afterwards throughout the rest of the world.
FRITZ -- I remember seeing that on TV as a kid when visiting my grandmother's house with my cousins. I related it to Flipper also, so my understanding was that Skippy went about rescuing people in distress in similar fashion, except by hopping through the woods and fields instead of the ocean. And Gentle Ben got to do it on a high-powered speed boat through the Everglades! What Skippy had to do with the peanut butter I never figured out.
