The book offered the author's quirky take on comic book history--surprisingly making little or no mention of his own role in it as I recall-- but, even better, Golden Age reprints of, among others, Batman, Superman, Captain America, The Sub-Mariner, the Spectre and The Spirit!
One of the most important books in my life. I found this at my local library and checked it out countless times to read and read again those choice Golden Age tales. I've since bought it a few times over and try to keep it around for inspiration in times of woe.

This was a great book. With all of the reboots and re-imagining of all of the major super heroes it would be impossible to give a definitive origin for any of them.
