To this day I've never seen the movie but in 1966, "Georgy Girl" by the Seekers was my favorite song. I had a vague idea who the Beatles were and I didn't hate their music or anything like that but it was "Georgy Girl" that had little me bopping around with my transistor radio in hand!
Stephen, "Georgy Girl" was the first 45 I ever bought (I think; but definitely one of the first 5). I started buying 45s in January 1967, and I recall the first batch including Georgy Girl, Kind of a Drag, 98.6, and Penny Lane. Then I made up for lost time and bought every Beatles 45 I could get my hands on over the next year or 2!
