The Great Comic Book Heroes

Although published in 1965, Jules Feiffer's THE GREAT COMIC BOOK HEROES continued to sell throughout '66 and even beyond due to the boost it received from Batmania!

The book offered the author's quirky take on comic book history--surprisingly making little or no mention of his own role in it as I recall-- but, even better, Golden Age reprints of, among others,  Batman, Superman, Captain America, The Sub-Mariner, the Spectre and The Spirit!

  1. One of the most important books in my life. I found this at my local library and checked it out countless times to read and read again those choice Golden Age tales. I've since bought it a few times over and try to keep it around for inspiration in times of woe.

  2. This was a great book. With all of the reboots and re-imagining of all of the major super heroes it would be impossible to give a definitive origin for any of them.
