I was a huge fan of THE FLINTSTONES as a kid but somehow it never occurred to my parents to take me to see this feature film version that premiered in '66. I never even knew it existed at the time. THE MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE opened up the series and made it a James Bond-style spy spoof with some genuine action and adventure! I didn't catch it until a 1970 re-release double-featured with another Hanna-Barbera production, HEY THERE, IT'S YOGI BEAR.
I loved this movie so much when I first saw it at my local cinema (in '72 or '73) that I went back to see it several times. I did a blog post on it a couple or so years back. Shouldn't be too hard to find if you're interested.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it until it turned up on TV years later. I did see "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear" at a drive-in when it first came out.
ReplyDeleteThere was also a regular half-hour Flintstones episode that was a spy spoof. Fred and Barney got mixed up with a femme fatale named Madame Yes.
